about

When I think about people who can leave behind negativity and embrace optimism, the face that pops in my mind first belongs to MC Lars. I asked Lars to join us not knowing what exactly he would be bringing to the table for what I believe is our, like, 12th collaboration. What he ended up delivering touched me on a very personal level as he starts to consider the life of mixing entertainment and family and what some of those consequences may entail. In the spirit of not only the track, but in typical MC Lars fashion, he's ready to face the day and find what silver linings may present themselves.

Too often do we hold onto mistakes and misjudgements of our past and allow those to shape how we handle situations as we fail to mature. And it's hard not to. Some of that shit scars you. And while we don't always succeed, 90's childrens entertainment has taught me that the goal is to try your best and be positive while encouraging those around you. Ralph never won the day by being a dick to Mike. Wolverine could only defeat Magneto with the help of all the X-Men by making up with Scott. Holding onto and celebrating negativity only makes you the bad guy. Good guys see the good in things. We have to try to be good guys.

Now that my Snoop Dogg medicine is wearing off, let me refocus and tell you about the actual song again. Glenn came up with the music and chorus after one of podcast he had tailormade with your boy in mind. I came up with my interpretation of what the hook was saying to me, did my thing, and tanner hit us up with the demo. Then I sent one of those waaaaay too wordy emails to Lars asking him to join us and then he cranked out that hot fire he's known for. And the rest is stored in the mp3. We hope you like it!

lyrics

What the hell do I do here?
Asked myself school like every day since my first year
No strut, kid gut, and half of my friends suck
Asking out a girl? Well it's your funeral, good luck
Love the sympathy I got for a bum knee
Only thing I care about what people think of me
And then you throw on top of that like everybody calls me fat
The only reason that I rap is so someone would give a crap
Thought I discovered a secret
They act like they all like you when you act like a big prick
Plus I'm the biggest and I get loud
Chokeslam all the smaller like the main event of Smackdown
Principal's office was a good friend
Acting like they're out to get me even though I wrote my own end
Started maturing realized what I was doing
Got a super nerdy crew and shared the things I was pursuing
When the anger always brewing may not see what you've been losing
Ok to be emotional, but take control
ya gotta let it

Man she did you so wong
See ya try to hide her name into another damn song
Think of years past, she got the best of em
Ladies that you curbed, could make a list of em
Bout to go goth, feeling for cross
Took all her stuff, all you took was a loss
Since she went astray you done said goodbye to sweeter dreams
Feeling like you need to run, she knows all your sex things
But that's the way that it goes
You wanna float through the breeze, you gotta take you some blows
Gotta stay on your toes, you gotta put up your dukes
Shelter for a truth bomb, but she's dropping nukes
But if you always keep up a force field
Won't see the difference from a heartbreak and good deal
My advice don't fantasize, allow yourself to be surprised
Be a man in both your eyes, a work of art epitomized
Fight for love like blow for blow, Never say I told you so
know ya gotta Take control, ya gotta let it, gotta let it go

Gotta Let it Go

[MC LARS]
Now that I’m 35 I’m growing up but it’s okay
I’m going back to school I’ve thought about an MBA
I’m getting married and I love this girl with all my heart
She digs me also and respects my need to do my art
We’re talking family plans,
but it scares when I think about the changes that demands
No more shows in empty bars
I guess it’s time to lead the charge
I’ll hit the road but not that far
it’s not the death of MC Lars
I use to be so cocky posting nerdcore RIP
but now I’m in the reddit sublet like remember me?
we all want our 15 minutes
got mine in my twenties but refuse to say I’m finish and now
I want to move to Australia
or maybe Stewart Island if our country ends in failure
Time to put the phone away
and step outside and face the day
‘cause everything will be okay
we’ll sail away like Hemingway… ‘cause I’ve got to let go
